Scientific research activities of the Department for Industrial Plants:

• • Agrotechnical research on soybean, oilseed rape, sunflower, linen, tobacco, buckwheat, and other industrial plants;
  • Examine the effects of herbicides in soybeans, oilseed rape and linen;
  • Study of stability and adaptability of a number of traits in soybean and rapeseed;
  • Tests on peas to industrial use for bioethanol production, protein and organic pellets for heating;
  • Tests on linen in order to produce the delicacy cold squeezed oil;
  • Tests on buckwheat in order to find the best management systems and multifunctional use;
  • Tests on rye straw in order to use as covering material;
  • The influence of low temperatures on new varieties and hybrids of oilseed rape in the mountain area.

Other activities:

• • Maintenance and seed multiplication of four varieties of soybean: Sana, Sonja, Milica and Marina;
  • Collection and testing of domestic and foreign varieties and populations of industrial plants;
  • Scientific-technical cooperation with other academic research institutions (Faculty of Forestry, Banja Luka, Banja Luka Faculty of Technology, Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops Novi Sad, Agricultural Institute);
  • Technical co-operation with factories for the production of edible oils "Bimal", and other companies (Pioneer, Syngenta, BASF, Bayer), important for the intensification of production of industrial crops;
  • Monitoring the impacts of climate change on the production of industrial crops and contribute to increased production of industrial crops reduce global pollution of the environment;
  • Monitoring developments in the production of biodiesel, ethanol and other alternative energy sources;
  • Education of producers of industrial plants, agricultural experts, students and consumers of agricultural products in cooperation with the Agency for the provision of consultancy service in agriculture;
  • Assist in the preparation of undergraduate and master's theses and doctoral dissertations;
  • Experimental production of linseed oil and biodiesel;
  • Preparation of programs, projects, studies and brochures on the subject of industrial plants.
