• Program activities in seed testing:
• Seed testing laboratory of Agricultural Institute of Republic of Srpska is registered laboratory whose activities are seed quality control in internal movement and for export, as well as quality control of imported seed. Also, laboratory does analyses of samples delivered by inspectors, superanalyses and provides adequate documenation for analyses done.
• Every analysis is done according to Republic of Srpska’s legislative and at the same time the Laboratory harmonizes methods and procedures with International Seed Testing Association (ISTA).
• Seed quality refers to different traits that are important for farmers, industry, storekeepers, shopkeepers, those who give certificates and government or agency responsible for seed control.
• Because of low seed production in our country, seed is imported from surrounding countries and that makes difficulties in market control and increases danger form sowing seed that isn’t controlled. This is the reason why cooperation between border inspection services and seed testing laboratories is neccessary.
