Program activities in biotechnology:
- Genetically modified organisms (GMO) are organisms whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques, and inserted genes origin from different and even unrelated species. These genes are called transgenes and these organisms transgenic organisms.
- Main activity of the Department in biotechnology is detection of GMO presence in plants, plant parts and plant products by using internationally accepted methods.
